5 Things Every First Time Mom Should Know

If you’re preparing for your first baby, you’ve probably been given plenty of advice.

You’ve heard what to pack, what to buy, what to expect during pregnancy, and maybe even a few wild birth stories you didn’t ask for.

But there are some things that aren’t always talked about- and I think every first time mom deserves to hear them.

  1. Your birth may not look exactly like you imagined.

It’s okay to have hopes and plans for your births but birth can be unpredictable. If things change, that doesn’t mean you failed- it means you adapted. What matters is feeling informed, supported & cared for.

  2. You are allowed to ask questions.

You never have to be afraid to ask your provider questions. Understanding your options helps you make informed questions and feel more confident in your care.

  3. Your partner may need support too.

Your partner may have questions or feel unsure how to help. A doula can offer guidance and encouragement while

helping your partner feel confident and involved.

  4. You don’t have to prove anything during birth.

There’s no right way to give birth. Whether you have an unmedicated birth, an epidural, induction or cesarean, your worth as a mother doesn’t change. You are amazing!!

Preparing for your first baby can feel exciting, overwhelming and everything in between.

That’s where a doula can make a difference.

My goal is to help you feel informed, confident and encouraged from pregnancy through birth and into those first days with your baby.

If you’re welcoming your first baby and wondering if a doula is right for you, I’d love

to connect.
